

After the BattleThe frozen earth cracked beneath me as I strode; long strides, the strides of a man of true purpose. I looked about me at the calamitous aftermath of battle, and my brow furrowed with deliberate irritation. It had been a long and tiring melee that had taken much of the morning to complete. The reward had been the view I saw now before me; thousands of broken and dismembered barbarian corpses, and those of the war pigs they rode. I myself had killed at least seven hundred of the savages, and enjoyed every bloody death. The ice covered ground was stained pink, as fetching as the blush of aAfter the Battle

My master stood in wait in the minor hall, leant against a sturdy table. His chin was raised high and his chest pressed outward. At this distance, in the sparse light of the hall he was a shadowy silhouette, a promise of things to come. I reached my closet and removed my tools, while looking for me gloves I heard the main doors of the hall open, and the steps of the vizier as he entered. I decided to take a better look at Lord Maximus.
In the light that burst through the doorway, his form interrupted the rays, producing insignia of bronze and ivory tones of skin, altogether wound to an image of a man
